New CEO Lance McClanahan Brings Elite Military Leadership to Defense Logistics
WILMINGTON, NC—Retired Marine Infantry Officer Lance McClanahan has taken on a new mission: leading Ramar Transportation, a veteran-owned logistics company specializing in HAZMAT, Class 1 explosives, and secure freight for the U.S. Department of Defense and defense contractors.
After years of service with U.S. Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC), McClanahan is now applying his battlefield-tested leadership in the boardroom. “This is a natural extension of my military mission,” says McClanahan. “It’s still about service, precision, and protecting the country—just in a different uniform.”

McClanahan, who holds a BA and MBA from Duke University and a master’s degree in applied Intelligence from Georgetown University, acquired Ramar during a market downturn, recognizing its untapped potential. “The company had great bones—experienced drivers, secure infrastructure, and key federal certifications,” he says. “What it needed was a renewed mission and leadership culture built around discipline, precision logistics, and a deep understanding of military needs.”
